Saarang is GoodEarth’s first holistic eco-village in the Kannur district of Kerala. Designed as a living ecosystem, it brings together spaces for living, working, learning, recreation, and wellness within a thoughtfully crafted natural landscape.
The eco-village envisions a diverse, multi-generational community; where elders are cared for with dignity, children play freely, and adults engage in meaningful work amidst pristine surroundings.
I was commissioned to illustrate the masterplan for this project. I worked with the landscape plan of the farm, which follows a five-layer, forest-based agroforestry system. Based on this, I researched and integrated appropriate trees and plants into my illustration to reflect the biodiversity and layering of the landscape. I sought to capture the spirit of Saraang; a seamless relationship between architecture, agriculture, and nature.
