Project type
Illustration for ceilings
Date
Sept 2022 - Feb 2023
Location
Jaipur, India
This was the first project I worked on after joining Fingerprint Collective (now Pomoco). The brief was to represent the richness of Jaipur’s culture through traditional craft, translated onto the ceilings of the Museum of Meenakari Heritage (MOMH). I worked closely with Meghana and Nisha (CraftCanvas) to create the drawings for two of the ceilings of the basement pods.
One ceiling illustrates the City Palace along with Jaipur’s four main gates, each corresponding to a season and its associated festivals. The second ceiling visualises the Chand Baori stepwell through a fish-eye perspective, capturing its depth and geometry.
My background in architecture supported my understanding of space, proportion, and perspective, which greatly informed the way I approached these drawings. I am also deeply grateful for the opportunity to work with the Nimbark family of Jaipur, who brought these illustrations to life through their craftsmanship.
Seeing this project featured across platforms such as Vogue, ArchDaily, and many others has been rewarding. It feels like a gentle affirmation, one that makes all those hours of drawing, redrawing, and refining worth it, even for my once-sore hand.
